Help with fired airbag

  Clio 182
I have a clio 1.2 2002 with the airbag light on.
The previous owner has informed me that the drivers seat airbag had fired and that's why it has a new seat.
Whats the procedure for resetting this?

So I have removed the airbag ecu.
is the job as easy as swapping this with one with the same part number that has not been involved in a crash.
the seat appears to be identical and has a airbag like the passenger one.

part number is
bosch 8200375763
0285001537

You need to see clip and set it up proberly. don't know why doesn't the air bag off the 182 work.
Same computer different settings.
you need to read off all the faults and see what's going on

I've got no clip and the car can't be moved :(

ive have just looked and the rear pretensioner has also been replaced, so all tensioners and bags are in useable condition so in theory I should just need another ecu or mine having crash faults cleared?

im 100% sure clip will tell me what's going on but I don't think it alone can fix it and will only confirm what I know. front and rear tensioners have fired as well as seat airbag.

Ecu was reset today and should be with me tomorrow.
i shall post up my findings so people will know for future reference..
I hate scanning threads and the answer is never given once the solution is found.

You couldn't have searched very hard, i've posted up about this guy at least ten times...

I've used him a fair few times and he's spot on. For all sorts of airbag ecu/ecu stuff too, not just crash data removal.

okay, some information for you...

When a "crash" or "impact" is detected by the SRS ECU it can trigger various components as it deems fit based on the impact detected. A "crash" to the SRS ECU can be anything from a hard bump from a pot hole or clipping of a curb to a full on accident with another vehicle at speed. These components range from actual airbag units which are designed to stop your body hitting items inside the car to seatbelt anchors and inertia reels which hold you firmly in place rather than you be thrown about back handing other occupants with your pimp hands (and they don't all fire at once). When a "crash" is detected the SRS ECU stores a list of any "Trigger lines" it has "Deployed" (We call this Crash Contextual Data or CCD) which helps us as technicians determine which components to replace following the impact as they tend to be use once components. As part of this CCD logging the SRS ECU also locks its state so that the fault codes cannot be cleared (by CLIP or any other diagnostic equipment) and the unit not be re-used (by design and for insurance/legal reasons in the event of legal proceedings I imagine) and CLIP cannot clear the CCD as the Renault process states the SRS ECU is to be replaced with a 100% new "Virgin" state ECU which is then configured by CLIP for your vehicle once any triggered components have been replaced and the vehicle has been repaired... good as new!

There are people and companies out there though that can circumvent this process and save you money by removing the code from your SRS ECU effectively resetting the CCD. There's nothing wrong with this method despite what someone in Europe says and we now have a new trader on CS who specialises in electronic component repairs and I believe this is a service Tachosoft offer so maybe try getting in touch with bil_liser to see what he can do for you as well as the eBayer listed above.

An SRS ECU from a X65/Clio II is the same in all X65 vehicles from an electronic point of view so a unit from a 182 will also work if installed in a 1.4 16v for example. It will however require reconfiguring as the equipment in the vehicles will differ (eg. Some have airbag units in the seats where others do not, some have rear inertia reels and again others don't and the SRS ECU needs to know this as it will "See" anything plugged in even though its not "configured")

Thank for the mention Mick, our primary operation is running a database driver website TachosoftOnline.com that accommodates thousands of makes/models are airbags, the system is instant and a user simply needs to have the means to read/write the airbag Eprom (sometimes a 8 leg chip, sometimes integral in a processor / MCU)

The website is open to browse, and there are user guides to download at the bottom of the page that tries to explain how the system is working in simplified terms. Its worth anyone interested in resetting their own airbags having a gander, or even if your just curious how it all happens. Whats interesting is, the techniques used in resetting airbags, can be used to alter data and / or transfer (Clone) the information to other 'coded' automotive parts, be it; ECU's, UCH's, Dashboards, Decoder Boxes..

Due to conflict of interests, we (Tachosoft uk) don't actually advertise airbag resetting as an end user service, because we 'sell' the service to the airbag resetting guys, we try not to step on their toes 'so to speak'. We do however provide the service to our trade contacts, and of course we wouldn't turn any enquiries away. All of our Adverts, inc ebay listing are specifically focused on promoting the TachosoftOnline.com service.

That said!.. We do have a guy in house, The Airbag Doctor who is focused just on airbag resetting. (AKA - Doctor Bag) ..LOL :-D

The ebay guy mentioned, and almost all other airbag resetters have in the past or continue to buy access to our system (We have hundreds of users, worldwide!) ..so he is working with what we know to be good and correct data.

CLIOSport members are more than welcome to use us :)
