Help with forgotton windows password!

a friend has forgotton their windows pasword so cant get their computer on, is there anyway of getting the comp to start up so they can sort it out?

shes just rang me, apparently its on her laptop

when she turns it o it asks for a password before anything loads but it wont accept the password. she is sure its the right one but it wont work. so she just pulls the battery out?

its not the laptop battery you need to remove, its the flat circular one on the motherboard but being a laptop it isn't going to be easy getting in.

Download KillCmos, wack it on a floppy disk and boot from it, will reset the BIOS for you.

she only got it today, thats amazing!

I personally would never set a BIOS password as it is a pain in the ass and if someone steals it they can just do the same and remove the battery anyway, hell I don't even have a windows password as it annoys me too much.

Lol I forgot that laptops don't have floppy's, haven't bought one in ages. Do desktops come with floppy's these days?

I dont password BIOS/Windows either, any data I don't want people using I encrypt.
