Help with updating my cleaning kit- ie what polish and wax to get

  172DD Cup
i need to get some new polish and wax, would be good to hear suggestions at the £10 mark as well as the £30 mark (my top top limit i think).

  172DD Cup
this is what i've got currently:

wash
turtle wax zip shampoo

clean
meguiars clay bar
ag paint renovator
ag engine/machine cleaner

polish glaze wax
eagle f1 polish?
mer polish
turtle wax wax. its in a blue tin, quite old.

sealant
turtle wax gloss guard

microfibre towels and sponge that looks like a sheep

hopefully most of the above is ok stuff but i think i need to replace the polish/ wax stuff. i don't know if i need to use the gloss guard. i like it, but then i've used eagle f1 polish in the past, whatever that is.

for polish, i was looking at ag srp, i've read it's only got a slight cut, or poorboys white diamond/ black hole glaze (dont know which for mondial blue).
for wax, i haven't got a clue. i hear good stuff about poor boys wax, but for me personally it's alot of money.

i spotted the meguiars stage 1 2 3 which is appealing for the money, but is it any good? would prob only get stage 2 & 3 as i've got ag renovator if i need it.

Why do you need new polish? Wax, there is a massive range and the choice is yours. Suggestions for that price range are R222, Natty's Blue, Dodo if you really must...

OOOOfffft, christ. Well you can chuck most of that!

Have a read of the other threads in here.

No really, start again, chuck the lot, apart from the Megs Clay Kit.

even the ag renovator and engine cleaner? i read good things on here about engine cleaner (obviously not for cleaning the paintwork)

don't forget im nearer the other end of the cleaning scale to you. for me, as long as i'm not using a sponge and washing up liquid, i'm happy.

Bang, that's the fuse blowing in honour of Keving being away :(

KPMatthews, IIRC you are female and therefore I will be nice. Even though I've had a shite day and now have a headache.

Wash; Duragloss 902, DODO born to be mild or Meguirars Gold Class - coupled with the two bucket method and a wash mitt.
Dry; A thick waffle MF towel, there are plenty to choose from, search the usual sites like I4Detailing
Clay; Meguirars Quick Clay set is fine
Polish; Lime Prime or SRP
Glaze (fills swirls); Poorboys blackhole, but depends on colour
Wax; nothing wrong with the Natty's but not that hard waring. Look into R222. Or up the budget by another 50% and get some Onyx/Carbon

I'm thinking a Halfords shopper, so most items available listed above. Replace the wax with AutoGlym HD.

EAMC is a great product for cleaning engines (der) and wheels as it is non-acidic.

Couple the above with the usual applicators and MF towels and you'll be right on your way.

thanks for the info guys, some good stuff there. i'm not fussed about getting it from halfords, will buy online. i usually pick up my cleaning stuff on their 3 for 2 weekends hence why most stuff is from halfords.

car is mondial blue.

thanks

ive never tried it but seen some very nice results, its one i plan to buy in the future

ah, my old thread, well i took into account the info on here and what i read from a couple of hours spent on detailing world and i ended up with all autoglym stuff. they really seem to rate the srp and hd wax over there. so now i have:

ag bodywork shampoo conditioner
megs claybar and/or srp
hd wax
noodle wash mitts
microfibre towels
megs polishing pads
and the pads and towel i got with the hd wax

one (large) aspect of advice i did take from here is that most of the other stuff did indeed go in the bin (and by bin i mean tub for when people want to borrow my cleaning stuff).

what i have found is that for every forum post rating a product, there is another post hating the product and rating it's rival, and i've come to realise there is no "best" product at a given price point (perhaps once you get in the hundreds and thousands(?))

my list still looks a bit short though, i'm looking into substituting the srp for a glaze (keep leaning towards black hole) as i feel uncomfortable with cutting all the time, even though i understand srp is very mild.

i'm also planning to get some egp as i've read it makes a good alloy sealant.

you'll notice i'm not asking a direct question here, i didn't take your advice on what to buy last time (although i did listen) so it'll be rude to ask what to buy now, however if anyone want's to chime in and expand my cleaning process feel free.

IIRC SRP has little to no cut, is more of a filler.

EGP really doesn't last that long on paintwork, so I can't see it lasting long on wheels at all. Worth a try I guess if you have nothing else
