Hesitation At 5k , Sometimes It Kicks Sometimes It Doesnt

  Clio 172
Been having this problem for a while now , everytime im up through the revs it doesnt kick at 5k and really holds back , I know somebody is gonna say use the search bar but the factor is that i have and everything ive came across ive near enough changed or tested , I have changed my spark plugs , coil pack , map sensor , and also today lambda sensor , i also have done the injector test which all injectors seemed to be fine so now im wondering where to go from here , had it on a code reader nothing shows , Hopefully somebody can help , cheers

It had the kick before now just suddenly dont , and sometime i can be driving and it can have the kick , but then other times it just wont kick at all , if the timing was out surely it would be the same all the time i would imagine

You are right I would have thought, that didn't come across initially thats all.

Other than popping to see a specialist I don't have any other advice I am afraid chap.

Yes I now also have a hesitation at around 5k revs, mine is more like a misfire. Any advice on this would be appreciated!

Cheers,

Take it to see Dan@SJM - It needs a proper fault finding session on CLIP firstly to check all parameters are functioning correctly (Yes there are other bits of kit out there but non are 100% trustworthy as dealer level kit). This isn't the same as plugging it in and seeing if there are any fault codes present. If all is good with the parameter checks a data logging session is required to make sure the engine is running right before and after 5krpm then finally a physical check of the mechanical side would be in order (Compression, Timing, Brakes, Exhaust).

Oh hi. Yes, I can do the work if required. I have CLiP, I would also do a datalogging run using an innovate LM-2, which will give a real time AFR, which would enable us to see if it's a fuelling issue.

Clip test is £45, datalogging run is £25 (after the clip test) and a timing check is £115. All other bits are charged at £45/hr. But you wouldn't be looking at more than an hour and a half to leak down test, compression test and a quick look over the wheels etc.

I was looking at mine tonight and found that a rubber o ring on the fuel line connection to the fuel rail had perished and was leaking. I replaced the o ring and it sorted the problem right out! I reckon the hesitation was due to there being insufficient fuel pressure to feed the injectors. Worth having a look to see if you have a little leak somewhere!
