Why is that proved to be a myth then? I have both of them lying next to eachother and they are identical.

Lol, i didnt even spot the difference. Better to use 16v/willy rods anyway if on a budget.
 
If you buy forged pistons and a set of arp rod bolts new its almost the price of a rod/pistons/bolt set anyway, if you are building a 230bhp engine there isn't much point trying to save a couple hundred quid on something as important as rods. You're into a over 8krpm realistcally so will be 10k pounds build with steel crank and uprated rockers/lifters really for that power to have confidence it will be reliable so I'd not even consider standard rods.
