Hello,

I'm new to the forum and I'm looking to buy a 2002 172 that has done 75000 miles, I'm going to look at it tonight as in the pictures it looks in very good condition and has 2 previous owners. I'm just a little bit wary as this will be the first time I will have bought privately and just need a little guidance on what to look out for etc, so any help will be appreciated!

Hiya Rob, I have only just joined too

I would say to just make sure the cam belt has been changed recently coz I think they have to be changed at 72 000 and I think the same for fan belt but that has to be changed at 65 but dont quote me on that...

I don't really know too much about cars, but I hope the info was helpful

Yup

that sorta mileage you want to make sure it's had cam changed.

Also...IMO..pay the £50 (approx) for an AA check over before you buy it, worth the money tbh.

I now own myself a 172, went to see it yesterday and it was in perfect condition and had reciepts for everything and cambelt as well, everything was done by renualt / volvo specialists. The guy I bought it was selling because he had a new type R. He took me out in it and showed me that everything was working, no funny noises even on full lock, also has new brake pads and battery and new tyres fitted!

Will try and get pictures up if I can find my camera!

Omg Been driving in it all day, over 6k rpm is amazing, my only other car was a 1.6 golf which I've had for 4 years and I thought that was quite nippy! How wrong was I! Cheers for all the comments guys and girls, will be on here more often!
