LOL dont ask shorty hes off on a rant. im happy with mine, they have their faults like all cars but the pros far outweigh the cons and im very happy with it, for the money there isnt a better car out there IMHO (when i say for the money i mean newish car before everyone starts listing 5yr old turbod jap motors) best thing would be to go drive one and a couple of its competitors at the same sort of price and decide from there

well if you like it then go for it, mine puts a smile on my face whenever i go out and drive it, as for problems all ive had is cat (replaced under warranty) and seat belt tentioners bringing the airbag light on (also sorted under warranty) these arent uncommon and are easily sorted, dont think anyone has really had major problems with theirs and tbh you always get a friday afternoon car no matter which one you buy

dont be fooled save up and get a civic type-r
ignore him he is being a c*ck today, dirve it by all means i have the 172 and my dad has the ctr ive driven both and like both. make your own mind up if the ctr is on a possible list

172loony - what does the CTR feel like compared to the 172? Ive heard that the 172 feels more responsive in every day driving but that ultimately the CTR VTEC will win the day in a non distance restricted straight line race?

Steve_g - welcome! If you like the 172, then go for it. It is probably the best value package around for a brand new car (if you buy an import). Its not invincible by any means but there is plenty of fun to be had if you drive it right. Once youve sat in those leather/alcantara seats, you wont want anything else!

ello mate, yeah the car really is as good as everyone says! If you can live with a little (and i do mean little!) squeek and rattle then youll be happy. No-one really has had major problems, just minor stuff that warranty covers for anyway. Sorted.

ctr is great, but the only downfall is the power band is very peaky you have to be thrashing the tits off it to get the best out of it so really have to know it well and be in the right gear everywhere or you are waiting for the power to come back in. the clio is a wider spread of power and the delivery is probably more useable on the road or if you are a so so driver as you wont be caught in the wrong part of the rev range so easily. as for handling its really good too, less bodyroll but more crashy ride over poor surfaces than the clio. i love both but despite the price and performance similarities they are very different to drive but i will say again for shorty and anyone else I LOVE THEM BOTH as they are both great cars
