Hi there, bit of help needed please..

  2004 1.5 DCi 80 Dyna
Hi all, Im thinking of buying a new (well used, but you know what I mean) clio and was wandering if there is anything I should watch out for?

In my sights is a Red 1999 T reg 1.4 Alize with 84K on the clock

1 lady owner from new, a few hubcap scuffs but no bodywork marks/dents or rusts. Part service history

its got air con, elec sunroof and windows (are there any problems with these?)

price is £1595 with 12 months mot 3 months warranty

Are there any issues with the Alize to look out for? Also would that bonnet problem relate to this years model too?

Cheers,
Mike.:)

air con - make sure its been regassed. Seems a little high for the quality of car, is that from a stealer?

electrics seem ok, iirc heaters and their exchanges can play up

  Lots of Alfas
Hi mike, is it 1.4 8v or 16v?? The 16v is a lot better and a good all rounder. Check all the electrics, check to see if the cambelt and aux belt(X2 on 8v) has been changed at 72k or 5 years. The electric sunroof is quite rare, this rattles less than the manual but check for any signs of leaking. The sunroof pops open and should slide over the roof of the car.

Take it for test drive and listen for worn out suspension from front or rear and listen for knocking when changing gear and going round corners. Start the car from cold and from being warm, check the exhaust and mounts.

Just make sure the bonnet catch moves freely and when releasing it, check the safety catch holds it down before fully opening it.

I want cheaper insurance so don't want a sport model.

yeah, its 16V. What are clio's like for reliability? I have this against a Ford Fiesta (T reg) 1.25 zetec, and that engine is quite a good one, how does the clio fair?

I have a mondeo at the moment (12 years old) so its natural to move over to the fiesta, but its a bog standard no frills basic though has the renowned 1.25 zetec engine and has done only 54K

Though the clio has all the extras and it looks good and is cheaper on the insurance.

if its not the decent spec on the fiesta i would say the ball swings into the clio court then
