HID Conversion for H4 bulb - Colour Temp?

  Clio 197
I've now blown 4x [90% brighther bulbs] over 35,000 miles, at the cost of £50 at least.... and I'm losing patience!

I've decided to go for an H4 Hi/Lo HID conversion, which will be better on the battery. due to the ballast, it won't blow everytime my car has voltage/current gremlins.

Pls tell me if the following isn't true:

4300k is the brightest bulb.

As long as it's CE approved, it's road legal.

So the question is, who's a reputable retailer of the above?

Anyone care to share their experiences?

Ta.

4300k is the lowest in temperature, and therefore colour. So is more white than blue/purple.

HID kits are not technically legal unless you have washers and self levelers fitted as well.

What car do you have?

I can get the kits pretty cheap if you need a set.
I have a second hand set of H4 Hi/low in the shed that I had on my evo for a while. will have a look if still have em. I took them off as didnt have projector beams and was dazzling oncoming traffic lol.
The hi/low ones either have a two bulbs (bi xenon) or the ones I had had a reflector which moves to direct the light, which worked fine to be honest, and is a lot cheaper than the Bi/xenon, plus you only need 2 ballasts, where as the bi xenon uses 4 I believe.

Let me know if you need a price. I am just about to fit some to my phase 1 172, but they are just low beam.

Hi Mate,

4300k is the brightest you can get. That's why all manufacturers fit them, whether you have a Clio or a £100,000 Merc. Plus, HIDs always look bluey when they are first switched on, then turns whiter as they get warmer. Hope this helps.

IMO, If you just want the blue look, I think it'll probably be more cost effective just to get some standard halogen blue bulbs.

Did you actually read the post above with the different colours fella?

Also, "blue look" bulbs are more likely to fail an MOT then Xenons without self levelers and washers.

I've blown FOUR bulbs in two years... at the total cost of £50 (because they were super-bright bulbs). I wish I had just got myself some H4 HIDs in the first place.

please dont put hid's in your c2,had a friend do it and he ended up taking them out as his headlights were reflective lenses so the light just scattered everywhere and he was flashed constantly

4300K give out the most light. I've had 4300 6000 and 8000, and 4300 are by far the best for light output.

There is a projector beam conversion... but unfortunately it's got 'angel eyes'.

I'm not into chav mods... I just want to see where I'm going, and not have to fork out for £25 worth of bulbs every year!!

LOL - if you can find me a projector beam conversion that DOESN'T have angel eyes, I'm there!

PS Do Morette do anything?

PPS Suppose that'll look chavvy though. :(
