Hill power stage1

Quote

"Hill Power Modified Chip.
MC01
All of our Renault modified chips are developed and programmed in house on our Superflow engine dynomometer and have been mapped for optimum performance and engine safety by revising both the fuelling and ignition maps, giving power gains of approx 10/12 bhp All subsequent chip upgrades included in higher spec engine modifications, (provided the upgrade work is undertaken by us) are £35-00. Chip price includes fitting and rev limiter increase where appropriate."

i try emailing them but never get a reply :(

as i read it there. £35 for the ECU to be upgraded? surly is cant be that cheap?

reason i ask im hoping to get stage1 on my RT, got the De-cat, next will be induction kit and then Chip. which hillpower quote as
"Bypass pipe, induction kit, modified chip. The combination of parts in this kit free up engine response, giving gains in both power and torque (power increase of approx 12-15 bhp) through the rev range making the engine smother and more flexible."

You buy the chip.. then any mods you have done, they remap it which costs £35.00 each time.

Totally agree, the work he did on my car was fantastic and he is a sound bloke.

Shame hes a good 200 miles from me or hed have my valver more often lol!

to be honest i have tried two hill power stage 1 chips for the 1.4rt in my car and i couldnt notice any difference. rev limiter was unchanged ( probably deliberately) but i seriously couldnt tell the difference between the chipped ecu and mine except when i use my ecu, my exhaust system doesnt pop nearly as much as with a chip in

so strange but very disappointing for me. i was expecting at least something as i have all the other stage 1 upgrades.

so i will be looking into the 1.8 spi throttle and injectors/headwork/cams and superchip later this summer.

yea RTvavler thats wot im trying to find out about at mo, i mean i would go out and Buy a vavler if i could afford the insurance and find a decent one, but gotto get myself through next year at uni so gotto put up with what i go and do best with.

as for ECU hhm.... ta for the info mate, might stay well away for time being then.

ring ring ring hehe.

he is really busy i think, but should still get back to potential customers though. i had 2k to spend with HP when my engine died, but he never rang me back on 3 occasions or replied to my emails. 2k spent elsewhere!

If you want to phone its best to do it first thing in the morning - hes under a car the rest of the day I guess.

i had a superchip combined with a full scorpion exhaust, de-cat and K&N ik on my RT a few years back.

the limiter was unchanged and there was no noticable power increase, however the engine was smoother and the throttle was more responsive.

i feel that the money that is spent on engine upgrades to a lump that will never be that much quicker than standard (just sound better) would be much better invested in getting the car to use the power that is there better!

i.e. brakes, suspension, bushes ect that will make the car much more responsive and effective in real situations!

lets face it an RT will never be a rocket without serious cash but if you can out brake and handle other cars it will make it a hell of a lot more enjoyable!

;)

^^^ hes right you know, and its just as true for a 172 - brakes and suspension first!
yup! a fine example of this was a couple of months back being in the passenger seat of my friends 300 break GT4 round a roundabout seeing a guys i knows sensibly modded quicksilver sitting up the arse!

obviously the cars are massively unmatched but for that one moment surely its worth it :D
