My advice woukd be stop trying to be nice to someone who couldnt give a s**t about the law or anyone else. Its just bent metal your dealing with but what if it was worse?... the next time he drives uninsured it might be. Id even hazard a guess he doesnt have a license.

Call the police

Set your insurance company on it... they will go straight to the owners insurance and claim off them.

Quite frankly I am staggered some people in here are suggesting not contacting the police.

The guy who hit the OP is a law breaking, insurance dodging, insurance fraud advocating, weapons grade satchel who deserves everything he gets. He is one of the reasons we all pay sky high premiums.

OP - Serve him up. Get your costs / damages paid for from the insurer covering the car, and as said above the only good thing to this is that it wasn't more serious.

Also inform the police he was trying to get you to commit insurance fraud by saying he wasn't driving.

Why the hell are solicitors involved but the insurance companies aren't? Mental.

Get the police involved and set your insurance on the job. You'll get it sorted, don't worry.
