Is it possible to link a desktop pc running xp (early edition) and a laptop running vista wirelessly? Basiclly I sit in the lounge on the laptop and sometimes want to listen to use pictures stored on the desktop pc in the kitchen. I dont want to fill the laptop memory up so was wondering if it would be possible?

It is indeed, presuming your desktop pc is connected to the same router as your laptop then just setup a workgroup and share the files/folder you wish!

Or set up a media share

sorry for the hijack but can this be done using a mac laptop and a pc desktop??

if you don't have a wireless router but have wireless cards in both the laptop and desktop pc then you will need to set up your machines using an adhoc wireless network.

Shouldn't matter about different OS's as they use (or can use) the SMB protocols.

i have a vista laptop and a xp desktop and a router to network them with, the strange thing is i didnt even have to set the work groups they just found each other. weird but handy
