How Accurate?

D

Dj Annihilation

Hi guys

Just a quick question, i own a P2 172 with 28k on clock on 53 plate.

using the computer my car seems to average about 26mpg sometimes a little more regardless of what fuel i use. I think from what i rmember the miles to refuel is usualy around 300 miles on full tank once refuelled. Car gets a major service yearly and dont drive to its limits all the time, just push it now and then.

Is this a respectable combined driving MPG? Or should it be more? When i say push it i rarely red line just the odd power rush now and then lol!!

I really want to know how accurate it is because to me it seems a little low. I put in about 57 quid every 2 weeks or sometimes a little longer. I drive the car daily, quite short journeys.

Any help or comments would be appreciated.

Thanks guys

Louis

thats re-assuring....not moaning about it, i think they are pretty good for hot hatches but wanted an idea to see if i was about the same as others with the combined driving style.

have to admit though i really do notice the fuel line move and thrashing it for a while lol

  soon to be 182 ;)
would expect a bit more. . reset it and see what you can get over a week of your usual driving. . maybe a lambda issue? i think ive heard people say they can hit 35+

i have re-set it, using the ignitioon thing making the dash go wild! lol - and it seems to stick around the high 20's....maybe i'll try it again and see what happens over the next week.

sounds like it's running a bit rich to me. Hard to tell, but you should be getting 29-33mpg really even with the occassional flooring on your private runway. As a bench mark, I got mine down to 16mpg with around 100miles at Oulton Park :D

  172ph2
I'm getting about the same (26mpg) on my 2002 ph2 172 with 50k, again most of my driving is in town to-from work ~2miles each way. Doesn't help being cold and dark in the mornings, lights, heaters, demister none exactly helping matters.

  1.8 16v, Iceberg ph1 172
mine reads 41.3 most of the time, I do a 15mile drive to and from work. Varying from gentle plod to bit of a blast. not bad if its accurate

26 does seem pretty low, over a 200 mile distance I average around 33-34mpg in my 172 with mixed driving (30's, 40's & national speed limits etc) and I do quite enjoy exploring the footwell of my car
