How can I part with the Trophy!

This afternoon I was out an about and decided to go check out the new Golf GTi. After I'd had a good poke around I headed back to my car to find a bloke there taking pictures of it.

I unlocked it and went to get in, as I did he came over and asked me about the car finishing off by saying how gorgeous it looked.

My misses was a bit shocked that random people come and talk to me about my car!!

I know V6 owners get that all the time, and I've had it a few with the 172 and the 182, but this is the only time other than when I was in France that someone has done this with the Trophy.

Made me smile....then the temperature gauge started to bob up and down again.

If you even dreamt of trading the Trophy in for that steaming, festering, puss-riddled marketed, hyped-up, pile of turd - I would have personally driven down to Birmingham and slapped you, right across your mush!

Stop what you're doing. Sit still and contemplate what you said above. Take three deep breaths and pass it off as a fleeting moment of complete and utter madness....

I have been thinking about doing just the same thing lately. Will reserve judgement 'til launch but can't get excited about 197 performance specs... The 197 may be better built than the Trophy, but can't see how it will top the driving experience with all that extra weight. The new Golf gti may be heavier, but the turbo means £1700 will buy you 270bhp (Morego conversion - nice EVO review). That sort of money won't even get you to 200 in RSC territory. Then we have the residuals....etc etc

So what was the Golf like Lee?

I didn't test drive it as it was just at a local car supermarket. Most likely an import. £18k in Silver in standard trim with no options.

Dave, it keeps pushing it's luck. lol Why can't I just enjoy it.
