How can I resize a 1gb track to fit onto a CD?

I have a set which is 1gb in size but have been trying to find a way of resizing it to fit on a CD. I have Cool Edit Pro 2 but can't find how to re-encode the file with a lower bitrate.
Any ideas?

well those are still only 800mb. I have seen 1gb cds.. but they arent very common. You might get away with an overburn in nero.. but it aint likely. I'd say cut it into two 50 minute parts and use two cds and be done with it

  Shhh
depends if you want to play it in the car, or just store it. Assume its in audio form, MP3 it, and slop onto a disk.

If you want to play it, guess you'll have to cut it too 80mins.

Sorry mate can't be done if you want it in standard audio format .

Only way is mp3 .

You'll have to split the file into two if you want it in audio format .

Overburn will only give you a couple of extra minutes .

Typically an 80 min cd will actually be 83 - 85 mins capacity .
