How crap is your traction control?

Car  RB Clio 182 Cup
I've only had mine on twice, coming off a roundabout in 2nd gear in the damp.

But it doesn't seem to actually do anything! Wheels still spin up, car wants to go straight ahead and ESP light just flashes at me!

Is everyone elses TC crap?

EDIT: I was going to add a poll but can't seem to work out how to do it :s

It gets turned off everytime i drive it, Habit after i nearly ended up in a ditch because ot operates the stability too

Do you mean having the TC off

This thread is confuzzling me, it's too late to operate now!

What I meant was I have only done something twice which has caused it to intervene. I have always driven with it turned on since I got the car.

get a rear wheel off the ground when you're "on it" and see what happens, it will try and kill you

I was considering on going out to thrash it and see if I would survive, but then I thought it might just be easier if you explained what happens! :p

It dips the power as you loose traction transferring weight off the lone rear wheel putting you into a hairy oversteer moment.

Utter pap in my opinion, switched off everytime I get unless I'm just pootling round town

Mines only kicked in once! and didnt help my situation at all!! and that is with a lot of 'enthusiastic' driving - loads of lift off oversteer craziness, and it still doesnt intervene!

It's saved me once, braking hard with half the car on mud. Never causes me any probs unless I'm really having it.

never had a problem with the system in my ph2 during normal driving so i left it on, you never know whats round the corner and if your day dreaming and not expecting it to step out then its handy.

when pushing on though its dangerous forgot it was on one day and came nailing round a long sweeping bend and suddenly it started cutting ppower and the the rear stepped out (assuming i lifted a wheel.

This is so true, you really have to be aware to catch it when it happens.

Mine rarely comes on because I don't drive like a t**t, but when it does I can't really see the need for it.

There are a lot of driving heros on here!!!!!

I have it on and have only had it light up a few times (snow etc) so agree that it is not very intrusive (good thing). I'm all for a spirited drive etc but if you are finding it intrusive, maybe you are doing something stupid on a public road. I'm not the CS police, just my thoughts.

The TC on the 200 seems to be a warning that it's wet on the road - but as I'm not blind it really serves no purpose other than to occaisionaly flash when pulling away from a left / right turn too quickly.

If your lifting a wheel on a public road then I think you need to go on some trackdays and calm down! Racing has made me a much slower and more cautious road driver.

I'm more confused as to what it actually has control of other than just cutting the throttle.

Ever since I got my rainsport 2 tyres I never get the ESP light on, used to when booting it at the lights but fine now - I am a hero.

oh indeed not on the road! this was with Tom's car at brands hatch, there's a video somewhere of Tom going "off course" due to the TC ;)
