How do I check the alarm

Some edit broke into my car a few days b4 xmas. Ive never heard the alarm go off and I have no idea if it actually worked or not as I was shopping at the time. So how do I check it actually works?

try and set it off leave the winodws open and climb in and shake the car and make noise in it.

Does it have any sensors though on the windscreen pillars or a flashing light down on the center console near the gear stick? If not then its probably not got an alarm.

Close the doors.

Open the bonnet.

Hold down the sensor, and alarm the car.

remove hand.... cue loud alarms.

^^^

Normally have to wait about a minute or something first though, most alarms have a time delay from when you set them.

The normal flashing light on the instrument panel is the imobiliser light.

Sounds like you have no alarm :(

Like Edde said further up - you will have motion sensors on the pillars if one is installed.

If youve got an alarm then do this

Use the remote to lock it then unlock it using the key in the door.

This didnt set my mate car off because there was no alarm but it set mine off because Ive got an alarm.
