you could steam clean it but there is a chance it could muck up the electrics

AG Engine degreaser.

Followed by hard effort and time.

Some sort of dressing for the plastics.

Autosol metal polish for the metal.

take a slash on it

just give it a steam clean on a sunner hot day then leave the bonnet for a few hours

soak it in Autoglym engine degreaser, lob £2 into the local jetwash and clean the s**t. Will come up brand new.

Just avoid the coil pack and the induction kit and leave the engine running.

TBH...it's going to be a slog!

I would spray it down using TFR and spray using a heated pressure washer but I know others would disagree (wimps! )
