the pc is literally so slow d/ling any software would be a pain. i'll probably go onto crucial and see what their ouat detect says.

it is a dell pc so maybe in the documentation it will tell me what i need. only want to go form 512 to 2 gig tbh.

  Shed.
After installing 2gb of ram, if you install any more the ram speeds will slow down. 32 bit windows will also only recognise about 3.7 or somehitng? too.

What processor do you have?

Open up the system, remove the stick of ram and take a foto of the pins and someone will tell you. if its a pretty std basic system then it should be 184 pin ddr400.

If using XP 32bit - as good as it will get

Ive just ran Crucial's test on my system, max capacity 16GB FTW!!!!
