How do I remove the grille and bumper from the wing? (Clio Mk2)

I have looked through my Haynes manual and it says to remove the 2xT20 and 2xT30 screws from the grille which wasnt an issue.
It then says that the grill needs to be unclipped from the wings using a 'suitable screwdriver' - I have tried and tried but could not get it undone.
Is there a trick to doing this or am I overlooking something?
