How easy to get upper and lower inlets off

Did it years ago when taking out the engine in my RB but we had most of the front of the car off. How easy is to to remove the upper and lower with everything still in place ?

You need to support the engine as the top engine mount/Cambelt cover needs to come off.

Access isn't too bad nice the fuel rail guard is off.

Why would he need to support the engine if he's only taking the inlets off?

I took the upper inlet off the other week and it couldn't have been simpler,
you just unplug all the hoses, HT leads & sensors, then undo the bolts and Bobs your uncle.

Ahh right'O, i've never taken the bottom one off so didn't know that. :)

I've replaced the engine mounts before, so I supported the engine that time,
but I had no reason to remove the inlets.

I learn something new every week on here. :approve:

There is a bolt on the n/s which is a pain to get to, but I've found jacking the engine up till you can get access helps.

Apart from that the only tough bit is getting the gasket lined back up when the inlet goes back onto the head, once you have done it a few times it's ok but the first time is a bit fiddly - I'd drop a little grease on the gasket to try to hold it in place, though as you have to slide the inlet across slightly that isn't guaranteed to work

Il try giving it a go once the matched inlets arrive, but I might let rentec do it when its in next, only wanted to get them on before SRR next Saturday ! Will have to be done after work in the dark aswell :(

Anything to worry about with the fuel Injectors/Rail ?

Nope, they just pull out - though they will probably need a very good tug to get them out (The rail will come out with the injectors attached

The cam comer doesn't need to come off mate, and it holds the cams in too so shouldn't be taken off on it's own

Cheers for that mate, looks like quite a bit if work to be doing after a full day at work and in the dark :( Il leave it for rentec !

Yeah not ideal to be doing it in the dark lol. The most awkward bit I found was when refitting the lower inlet and trying to align the gasket and keeping it in the correct place. In the end I just used a few dabs of gasket sealant and stuck it to the head to hold it in to position.
