How good is the Gilmour

As above really got a super sprayer and it doesnt do what i want it to do and i havent got a karcher pressure washers so comments on gilmour please

I've never used one , but for £50 they seem alot of money for something that just covers the car in foam at low pressure .

Have you never thought about a pressure washer ? There are some in Aldi now , £75 , they are made by Karcher and rebranded Powecraft , plus you get a 3 year guarantee . You'll be be able to foam the car at high and low pressure .

I have a Gilmour and I would go down the power washer with foam lance route as it's much better at covering the car. I use the power washer now with a free attachment that came with it.

I would put the money towards a power washer...or you can buy my Gilmour lol

Thanks for the recommendations,as i said i allready have the super sprayer and it just doesnt put a layer of foam that sits on the car at all more like just soapy water lol and i want a fooking foam party going on!
Will ahve a look for the karcher products over the weekend

This is a picture from when I used it before to give you an idea of the foam it produces. That would probably have been with Super Snow Foam, the foam has probably run a bit before the picture was taken as well.

My efforts with a Karcher , a length of hose running into a 25 litre home brew fermenting bin with a couple of capfuls of shampoo . Use a vario lance ( around a tenner off ebay ) and you can have low pressure or high pressure foam

I have a Super Spray and make loads of foam... and thats not even using that much shampoo in the bottle, probably only fill it about 10% and the rest with warm water.

Loads of suds - £8 very well spent in my opinion.

What you using in your Super Sprayer?

Super snow foam and tried megs gold class obviously the snow is better but none of which actually puts like an inch of foam that will just sit there on the car as i just get really soapy water that stays a couple seconds then runs off
Im sure a saw a vid somewhere of someone using snow foam and it looked really good but i cant seem to get the results im looking for!
Can it be anything to do with having sealan/wax on the car as it does sheet water better than a car without?mightt try that theore on my works car

^ Not sure what you are doing wrong then, I have used Maxi Suds and now Snow Foam in mine and works a treat. Do you have the dilution rate set to full? Otherwise try a gentle shake and squeeze of the bottle to get the flow going.

Otherwise, perhaps your hose isn't at a high enough pressure?

Yeah set to full dilution rate,warm water give a good shake before and during i do get soapy suds all over the car but i just want more something like that

I use chemical guys Extreme Body Wash N Wax most of the time , but tbh any shampoo i've tried using my karcher method produces lots of foam .

I love my Gilmour, i've also got a foam lance for our karcher, i don't use it tho my old man does and thinks its ace...

I also use extreme body wash n wax from chem guys in it...you can use almost any shampoo in it and it'll still make really good suds...

If you can afford, then a pressure washer with a foam attachment will ultimately produce better results. Don't be tempted into buying a cheap pressure washer though as they can be a flase economy and a pain in the ass.

Having siad that I find it a bit of a pain connecting the pressure washer up when washing the car so most times I do tend to just use the Gilmour as it's muich easier just attching that to the end of a hose.

I don't really find it much hassle connecting up the karcher . Granted it takes a while longer than just using a hose , but when you think that alot of people spend 4 or 5 hours or more washing , polishing , waxing etc ..... its not that much extra time added to your day really .

Have a look at the one in Aldi i mentioned . £75 with a 3 year guarantee and it's made by karcher so you know its gonna last . Just keep your receipt somewhere safe and if it goes titsup you can get a refund .

I've had my Karcher for 9 years now , if i was buying a new one that would be the one i would buy .

I rarely use my Gilmour these days on clients vehicles as I have a Karcher foam lance

The Gilmour is always fine for just giving the van its daily quick freshen up in between its weekly coat of wax, dont even get my hands wet lol

I'd personally save myself the money in the long run and buy the foamlance/pressure washer, the Gilmour is all well and good but it's only a matter of time before you will want to step up in the world.

Snow Foam/Poorboy's Super Slick & Suds is what I use.

Gilmour won't get close to the amount of foam one of the lances will. Gilmour however does the job just fine me, but wont produce the shaving foam type effect some look for.

When attatching foam lance how does it sit on your pressure gun?As my old man has one with foam lance/bottle and when attached with bayonet fixing it sit at 45degrees so the siphoning effect wouldnt work properly,i thought it should sit directly under the gun
