How many of you have ordered Leopard?

Car  Clio 182
Just thinking of ordering it, can get it a bit cheaper through a work discount.

and finally ordering an external hard drive too.

Should be here Monday through one of our suppliers. I have been using it for about a month now it is very very good.

I'll buy it soon but I need to get a external HDD first and backup all my data so that I can do a clean install.

I ordered one at the same time, only the value one though but good enough for what I need!

The 500GB Iomega value drive would be plenty for me, it's that amount of storage I'm looking for.

I think eBuyer sell the same drive for £69.99

Well, my mate was outside Regent Street Apple at 17:50.
He couldn't find the end of the queue though, as it just went round in a massive circle.. HUNDREDS of people, Hehe.

My mate got one of them 5 licence deals. Paid 30 quid or something my copy!

Being a relative Mac noob don't really know what the difference is between the OSs. Theres some nice little tricks like "spaces" and these like folder things on your dock! Haha like my technical language!

But yeah seems cool! lol!

Im loving the speed! not impressed with the look.

but its elrapido on my macbook.

Yeah, It's weird... from upgrading Windows systems on old PCs I used to get real pissed off with performance issues i'd experience!

Since upgrading OSs on my Macbook I'm amazed that it's not touched the performance, if anything its quicker!

Don't like the new 3d dock layout.

It should be quicker on Intel Mac's as this is the first OS version to fully support the 64 bit chipset.

I assume that was the family pack? If so, you may as well just downloaded it from the net as it's not legal, he can't resell you a copy!

That's standard for OS X, every single major release so far has been quicker than the previous.

yup, got a family pack. Not sure how he would of sold me a copy as we just split the cost??? Its not as if he's made a profit on it...

And, those family packs if I remember, only cover Mac's under one roof.. so, they aren't "family" more "household" I think.

Yah, although I believe there is an exception for members of the family if they are away at college/university.

Btw, you also only get one disk.

Safari seems snappy has hell very quick - not a fan of the look of the folder icons.

Must agree Rich. They are not very "Apple" in appearance and look totally out of place compared to the other icons. Another gripe I have is the visibility of the little spot light that indicates an active application against the dock icon...its not very clear.

Just finished backing up, just about to install it now.

Do you have to back everything up first or is that just in case? :S

Ta Rich, sounds simple enough for me then! I will do that same type of install and back up photos/music first.

Depends on what install you do - Gives you a few choices of install - one of which allows you just to upgrade the OS X leaving everything as it is currently which is the one I chose and everything went fine, machine is as it was just with Leopard on it. I just backed up any files I did not want to risk losing to an external hard drive - mainly just images and all my music to be on the safe side.

Update did seem to take ages to install.

Yeah, although I think that's because you are used to how it looked in tiger, you get used to it.

It's more a precuation and given your past history with hard drives and such like it's probably recommended if you've got an external drive!
