How much do you use

I have to put in about 100 mills every 1000 miles that will be just over a litre between 12000 mile services. I ran it in very carefully but do drive it rather hard most of the time. What does everyone else usually use between services ?

Oil i take it?

Mines needed about 1 litre over 15k.

I was told when I bought the car that I had to take my car to Renault if I needed to fill up the oil...never bothered to ask why.

The car got a change of oil at its last service, other than that the car hasnt shown any difference in the oil level

1 litre between services. Apart from the first 3000 miles when it drank 2 litres!

Thanks chaps, would seem that my car is operating between acceptable limits then. I will mention it at its service and see what they say.

I checked my oil at 46k and it had not used one drop since its 36k service - it is soon to go in for its 48k service!

How hard do you drive it as that will have an effect on the oil ?

My mk4 Golf 2.0 engine does a litre every thousand miles.

So thats sh*t oil consumption to add to the sh*t engine, sh*t handling and sh*t performance.

reno say you should take it it to them so they can charge you £30 a litre for there special shiny oil in the gold bottle.

change my oil every 4k miles so is never really an issue with me

and anyway I take my own oil when it goes in for service - and in answer to how hard it gets driven - reasonably so, especially since it gets driven by Slugger as well - most people that know him will vouch for the fact that he drives reasonably quickly most of the time!!

oh yeah, and my car is contantly driven hard, as anyone at york last weekend will tell you

i used 1 litre in 1st 6000 miles - light came on dashboard saying it was low, this happened again at 8000 miles and I put in 0.5 litres.

Due for 12000 mile service in 2 weeks then they can sting me for their gold stuff and Ill no doubt pay through the teeth for it??

My cup has drunk naff all and ive done 9000 miles so far. changed the oil at 2000 (just to be kind) and have done a track day since to, didnt drink a drop.

whats oil ? are you supposed to put it in your car ?? wierd when did they start this ?

*edit* I had a look under the bonnet but all I could see was a cap with 710 on it ?? any ideas..

I HAD to change mine at 5 k was at the 1/4 empty mark. (light came on)
