Looks a nice motor!
Cheers it's a lovely car just too small for lugging all the kids stuff about now. Been a great cheap runner though hopefully whatever replaces it can be the same.

Is that a question as you cannot see the dent or questioning my description of the dent?Minor dent?
You’re going to need a load more information before any gives you an indication of value…things like:A friend has a clio sport on her drive which has been unused for about a year after it developed a phantom battery drain. It needs to go but I'm not sure exactly what it is or its value. Running fine and in daily use before this fault. A few mechanics looked but said it needs an car electrician to find the fault. Minor dent to one side as pictured which might pop out. Needs minor tidying but looks original and complete. Reccaro seats but minor mold on the inside.
Any idea what its worth as either a potentially easy project to go back on the road or as the base for a track car? Thanks

I'd read it might be the alternator but I'm not getting too involved in fixing this. Its owned by a now retired dinner lady who has bought another car with zero interest in a clio project. Its just pointless leaving it sitting on her drive hence the question on here. It’ll be the alternator. For some reason they s**t themselves and start drawing a voltage. Not sure why - a couple of people have suggested it starts thinking they are a motor and draw a current to spin themselves.
The easy test is to disconnect it and see if it still has the voltage drain.
I’ve had 2 alternators go that way.
Aside from that it just looks rough. If that dent is your idea of minor I’d hate so see a serious one 🤣

Usually the rectifier diodes which convert the current from AC to DC, when they go bad they act like a two way valve and allow current to back draw.
Can actually see some big amp draws with a thermal camera.
I’m thinking about converting my 182 back to N/A meaning I’d sell the engine, turbo kit etc but no idea what it’s worth.
Engine was built by @GrahamS and Alex at Awmotorworks back in 2020.
ED turbo kit with Garrett GT2560R turbo.
13 row mocal oil cooler.
Engine Machined and rebuilt from a 23k mile block and perfect condition cylinder head
Decked and honed so standard bore size
Drilled for 3/8npt turbo oil drain fitting
Genuine Renault bearings throughout
ARP rod bolts
Hastings piston rings
197 valve springs
Megane 225 headgasket
Megane keywayed crank pulley
New dampened pulley
Supertech intake and inconel exhaust valves
Freshly cut valve seats
Genuine valve stem seals
All genuine Renault gaskets
Vapour blasted sump/cambelt cover/engine mount/ thermostat housing/cam cover
Genuine water pump
Pierberg oil pump
NGK BCR8ES spark plugs
I fitted a new Cambelt kit in January this year.
I reckon it’s done around 3k miles if that in 6 years.
Runs a Gen90 that I would sell with it. It would literally be a drop in and fire up solution for someone.
I could even sell a rebuilt gearbox with a gripper for £1850 along with it.
What do people think it is worth?
I agree, but in this case I have the engine out of my race car which i have built and used, it’s also the engine out of this car originally. If going back to standard I’d be tempted just to swap the Meg gasket and use the rebuilt engine. Easy enough just to bung the hole for the oil return and better than going off to buy a new unknown engine.

I’ve advertised it for £2800 and £1750 for the box but obviously I’m open to offers4k for everything ready to drop in is decent I'd say with minimal hassle

Cool, I’ll see how it goes and bare that in mind 👌🏻Fair play then!
If you split I’ll take the ECU. I could probably do with more power than I can run on the EFI boost control module and standard ecu.
