i tend to do mine myself half way between the service intervals.. so every 6k i suppose, on my current car. and get it serviced at a garage at the recommended times.

my dad changes the oil on his evo every 3k and suggested I do the same ?? isn't that a bit much ??

probably, but won't do it any harm! i knew a guy who had a golf gti changed the oil every 3k, the engine was on 165k and still ran sweet as a nut! mine is done every 6k in the valver but that is what is recommemded anyways

I did mine very 6k on the 172, so once between service. Do you do a lot of stop start drivin Marie?? If no then 6k is more than enough, otherwise id go for 4k.

I had my first oil change after 12 months done 7,000 miles. I guess it depends as the rest have said how many miles you do i am going to try and do it every 6,000.

do mine every 6K, and supply my own elf excellium 5w40 oil. Got it done at 6k, part of 12K, just now at 18K too. Oil and filter change, get charged about £30 by renault to have it done. Might have a go myself some day.
