how do you get the spring loaded bolts off that fix the cat to the manifold?

Thanks

Undo the nuts either side?

If there are two nuts next to each other, on the same thread, you'll need two spanners to twist them apart in opposite directions.

go above, I had the mrs hold the bolts by leaning over the engine and coilpack and I undid the nut from beneath, that was a ph 2, but I guess it's similar. It's an awkward as f**k job!

Air gun FTW!

I will never fit one on my own again.... Using axle stands, sockets, spanners, elbow grease etc. and eventually having somebody hold the bolt heads from engine bay took just over 4hrs *sigh*

Took one to a local garage in the week..... Used their air tools 25mins, with a new fitting kit

DONE!

Haha, just noticed you and Gray have the ph1 style cat!

I'm sat here thinking, 4 hours to get the cat off?!

cheers john, its off now.

i bought a ph1 with a bit of an exhaust issue, it rattled a little. Turns out the cat was only held on with one bolt rather than two. Cant believe it wasn't blowing more.

Cheers for the help guys!

If you have the right tools its easy, takes me 40 mins to change the 172 cat. Just need extensions bars and two way socket joints and its a piece of piss
