How to know when cambelt needs doing

Are there any visual/audio signs that its on its way out, or is it just a case of doing it routinely?

Your valves flying through your bonnet are a good indication, you can look at the belt for wear and tear to indicate its on the way out but generally just get it replaced when your supposed to, not worth the risk !

Seriously you can not tell! just done my valver, apparently it had been done 5k miles ago, but it was slack as fook when i got to it, if your unsure if its been done and your car has done a few miles or few years old, just get it changed, trust me it is not worth the heartache!

sorry, Malpas cheshire, i work there, got a valver, and the foreman who does quite a bit with me, has got a 172 exclusive, got my own little workshop at home, lift etc etc!
