Hi guys... I suffer from a disorder called keratoconus which can make light reflections at night an absolute nightmare. I'm not going to go into too much detail about that side of things, but I need help with something.
I've had my Clio coming up for 3 years now, and I was diagnosed with keratoconus about 2 years ago, so it's the only car I've ever driven whilst having it. I recently had to drive mum's car and noticed that driving at night was vastly better, but I couldn't put my finger on why at the time. Today, for some reason, I looked through the part of the windscreen where the wipers don't reach... there was a difference! The reflections and general glare where much better.
I've drawn a diagram of what I'm seeing when looking at a single road light, first within the wiper section...
Then through the other section...
I bought some general window cleaner stuff from Halfords and went over the inside and outside of the windscreen and cleaned up the wipers.... there was a slight improvement but we're talking 5-10% so no where near good enough.
I got mum out at this point and asked her to look at the difference and compare it to her car, she confirms that although obviously not as bad as me, there was a definite difference.
tl;dr: I'm guessing the reflections I'm getting are from where I've previously used polish on the windscreen and the wipers have smeared it over? I know you shouldn't do this anyway but sometimes it was just easier. How do I get everything off for a fresh start and keep on top of this? Thanks for reading a long and probably boring thread!
