How to remove the standard Ecu to fit Rs Tuner Ecu ?

As i have just bought an Unlocked Grp N RS Tuner Ecu.

My next question is how easy is it to remove the standard 172ff ecu to fit the Grp N one ?

I guess i will have to disconect the battery and maybe remove it.

Is there anything i need to watch out for ?

And once i fit the new Ecu and re-connect the battery will the Car sort itself out ? :S

I have an Alpine haedunit with direct iPod link so radio codes are one less thing to worry about :)

Ok cheers.

And how does the big connector on the top of the Ecu come off ?

Its a simple enough job but a bit more tricky than these guys are making out to be fair! lol

To get to the connector you have to remove the top cover of the metal ECU frame, and to remove the ECU completely you have to unbolt the frame it is secured to.

Frosty's guide has always been my reccomendation, i followed it years ago and glad to see it's still there:

It aint an Ecu its a cable you can buy for your laptop and upload the RS Tuner software you get with it to remap your original ecu to suit your mods (you do this after backing up your Ecu) throught the diagnostic port inside the car.

I was just fortunate to find 2nd hand ecu with RS Tuner already installed to suit my mods :)

Fitted this today, all i have to say is how much i love the 7850 rev limit :)

Just paranoid about blowing my gearbox :(

And the 1250rpm idle will take time to get use to :S
