How To Set Up Koni Adjustable’s

Ive got to replace my rear shocks as one is bent and after finding out renault wanted £47each, I decided the Konis at £58each were a pretty good buy.

Now the problem is the instructions that came with them are the wrong ones and are no help what so ever.

I know theyre pre-set, I just wanted to make them a bit stiffer. Am I right in thinking this is a good set-up, having the front slightly softer, helps with understeer. Correct me if Im talking b*llocks!

Whats the best set-up with the standard front shocks, and how do I do it!

Any help aprreciated. Thanks

Tom what does your instruction say?. The last time I had koni adjustables I had to fully compress them to adjust the stiffness of the shock (rear ones). Having a stiffer rear end (ooo) will help with understeer to a certain degree, just make sure its not too stiff.

For the best setup in handling , you should really have both front and rear Konis shocks and springs. Having mixed and matched shocks wont be the best setup.

Believe it or not, i hear that the best way to set up dampers is to start with them on the softest possible setting front and rear, then bit by bit crank up the front until the wheels startskipping over bumps/your teeth start falling out, then back them off a touch. Then do the same at the rear.

Since you cant adjust the fronts i guess just do it with the back, but i agree about getting all round koni dampers, becuase you might find the rear is too stiff even on the softest setting. Even if the springs are non koni but aftermarket, you will find the front end makes the most difference in a front engine front wheel drive car.
