HOW TOO PULL OUT HEADUNIT

How can i get out my O3 PLATE head unit... I no i need the pins, but i was never given any!

Where can i go and do this, or what can i use? where can i get the pins from! Thanks

Samm

Yup, I just used 4 nails that were slightly narrower than the holes. Behind, theres 4 clips and when you push something in the holes, it pushes the clips out of the way. So you need all four at the same time. Just push them in there, and the HU just slides out. Youll need to give it a bit of a tug to get all the wires out too since theyll be bunched up in there. But theyre long enough that you should be able to pull it right out of the dash and unplug them from the back of the unit.

Or you can get removal keys from places like halfords or motorworld. Or try and sweet talk the dealer to getting them to remove it for you, they should do it for free cos its a 5 second job!

if you get em from Motor World get em from the AutoBar packets as there cheaper than the Autoleads ones

the Autobar packets are all red and will all be together

tried the coat hanger, couldnt do this but i was only using one coat hanger lol

I will go too renault thanks guys

Its so easy, dont waste your time at Renault.

1. Cut the top part off a Coat hanger...

2. Cut the main part of the hanger in two...

3. Bend the two pieces into "u" shapes...

4. Push an end into each hole...

5. Squeeze and pull outwards...

6. Undo harness...

7. Put Stereo on floor...

lol, its sooo much easier on the mk1 clio.

Undo 4 torx screws and the bit of dash that holds tha cage in just lifts out, you can then bend the holding pins on the cage back and slide the cage out.

See newer isnt necessarily better

CUT THE METAL HANGER UP INTO 4 BITS!!!!! PUT INTO HOLES AND PULL OUT USING THE CASSETE SLOT, OR LIKE SOMEONE ALREADY SAID DO WAT I DID AND USE 4 NAILS?!?!?!?!

Maybe the problem is that youre not pushing them in far enough. When you push them (nails, coat hanger wire, whatever) in the holes youre actually flattening four little spring-up clips.

So you need to push it in at least 3/4"! Then youll feel some resistance as the nails/wire hits the clips. You have to keep pushing and it will slide past the clips. Then therell be no more resistance. Once youve passed the clips, the HU should be free to pull out of the dash.

You might need to hold the nails or coat hanger wire outwardstowards the edges of the dash while you pull outwards so that the CD player comes out too rather than the wire/nails just sliding back out of the holes.

Alternatively, push in the wire/nails and leave them there. Then, try to grip the HU by the CD slot and pull it that way.

It should take about 5 seconds!
