HOW UNINFORMED MK2

Guys and girls,

I have read all the replies. Unbelievable that people think I am a Policeman. I was, not now for a many many years. I am not embarassed.

KIS172, I hope my litteracy is OK. ps. will not do a LOL or any daft emotions or faces

Someone asked if I had driven all dirivatives of the 172. Yes I have. 3 MK1s, 2 MK2S and 2 Cups. These cars are the company standard now, we all share without impunity.

Lets forget the person who does not understand the diffrence between A/C and climate control. Climate control is a sensor to control the ambient temperature, no more. In other words a few grammes of weight for the the sensors.

Someone said I had had a bad day at work. NOT FAR FROM THE TRUTH. However it was more to do with the crazy claims!!!!!!!!!! & the alledged snobbery.

As to track work!!!!!

Not something anyone should rely on to think they are better. Let us be honest. I have had to be far too honest with my percieved abilities in the past to save my/elses lives. I would probably loose on a pointless track. Where I would feel my abilities lie is roads, not what some of you may think is road driving.

Yet agian my issue "I will beat your arse" Why!!!!!??????

Youre cars spend 90%+ plus on the road. You may make too many mistakes in that safe enviroment, yet matters not. How about the real world. DRIVE IN THAT FASHION AND YOU, OR SOMEONE ELSE IS DEAD. You feel that you have achieved the nirvana of "I know better" How about the fools I had to scrape of the road. Track is in no way to think you have achieved "road saftey". Will not happen. The only way for road saftey is long lessons and experience., The "I am finding my or my cars limits" is purely an excuse for putting others lives in danger.

If any of you want tracks, 1/4 miles or other organised events OFF the road then fair dos. Please do not equate it to our roads!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do not want to put down anyone. However, there is too much b**sh*t about the people who think they are better. My concern is only for propper road safety. NOT tracks, they mean bu*ger all, other than the one VERY SMALL point. This point is not road worthy or realistic.

You all may think that driving fast is getting round the RBout with lift off oversteer, or power down with understeer. No it is NOT. My experience (again you Boy Racers will flame me) is that you may be able to get away quicker, but the race is not who won, but who survives with their family, friends and NOT just booting what is effcetively a cheat. (who went 1st??? was it green/amber/red, I had a passenger or 2, he did or did not) . Too many fools think they can make this mad differential.

I am not saying every Police driver knows what they are doing. NO they dont. 90% have not had any proper training .

A couple of weeks!!!!!!!!! NO WAY

"I can take you", "Ill take you out", Then it would be "cant judge a good driver, unless its on a track" That is one of the childish comments that have been put forward.

I do not pretend to be the best driver in the world.

Point is, anyone who thinks track work is the way to drive safely on our "cherished roads" has no idea as to quick, progressive or safe driving. The skills are so far apart it is madness.

I have no hidden agenda, only road saftey. I have too many idiots trying to race me down the local High Street, and then, residential roads!!!!!

The Cup/172MK1/2 has to be one of the most pointless arguements It was not any form of snobbery. I was being VERY realistic.

PS Good to see some very very positive comments BTW

Agree on most points totally.........and im not going to bother putting forward reasons why, i dont need to.

BUT, one area where i think some expansion is needed is this track work. I have been on the track in competition since i was 8, and the one thing i HAVE leant is that i cant take liberties on the rd and i will never push anything near its limits, sure you can have fun at 85% which is still faster than most bar the commited and totally insane. I have gotten out of wrecks on teh track that include 120mph multiple barrel rolls and if anything like that happened on the rd, i would be a mark on a lampost somewhere. Which is why my mate scares me sh*tless when he hammers it, totally beyond his capabilities.

Peace out all

Sorry M8

Know U R a different kettle of fish. LOL (god I did a text nightmare)

Good to see your responce.. Given that if U have the self control!!!!!

Mark

LOL, i do like to drive fast, but there really aint the time or space nowadyas, traffic is too bad......

the odd roundabout........and sometimes you can get silly when nobody is on a corner you know well......still, there are some real nutcases out there....spesh when it comes to blind bends!!!!

barely......

i didnt think i was when i flipped a Formula Renault...........and then looked at the rapair bill!!!!

Paddy,

Good to hear your voice again. No PC due to an overclocking issue. Waited for the NVidea fx 5800. Did not want to waste money. (sh*t, yes I have). Still I love trying to make the most of an entrance. LOL!!!

he hee! u dont say! when u next drivin 600 miles to see us then? nt many people can claim to have done that u know!

Not many are that daft are they????. was only 290 or so.

Just that I feel no inclination to put mine or others lives in danger, Not that from time to time I do not enjoy the thrills of MK!s/2s or cups!!!!!!.

All fantastic and so close in their family roots.

Paddy, would love to see U, Graggs & the guys again. Loved it last time. Fun though, not rhetoric or bravaro

Best wishes, Mark

I have worked in a bmw main dealer for the past five years I AM FULLY AWARE OF THE DIFFERENCE THANKYOU i was going on the assumption that like many people you had the same lack of understanding of the defference between the two, i am also big enough to apologise that i made the assumption you were one of these cretins

  Was a Clio 1.8 16v

I may be missing something but why is it u own a 172 blaze if u r obviously so against exceeding speed limits or taking any tiny risks when driving at all. Surely a Micra would be more suitable if u feel this way? ;)

I know a couple of mates that drive faster than thier abilities can handle & i can only say that NO amount of training can give u the natural skill needed to be as safe a driver as possible at any speed when on the roads IMHO. Some drivers have the confidence and awareness and others do not. Thankfully most drivers know what the are capable of & dont push it to the limit.

Maybe driving in Europe would reasure ur confidence in how safe UK drivers genrally are!

PS; I agree with points regarding road safety, etc and am not trying to start any sort of argument BTW. Only i am surprised some1 who owns a hot hatch cares so much about safe driving!

what a load of sh1t blaze sorry.

picture this, your doing the speed limit on a slight bend, oil is mid bend.

only track work and airfield work will help you as you have no way of getteing the car on the limits on the road.

the more track work you do the better driver you will be full stop road or track.

"The "I am finding my or my cars limits" is purely an excuse for putting others lives in danger."

just more bull imo its not an excuse at all you have to know the cars limits to be safe when you need it.

yes you still need good road craft which is rare granted but if you cannot drive and control the car then your f**ked full stop.

at the end of the day you were the one who said your were the best road driver. And harping on how you beat some 18 year old, woopy do.

imo your have lost it big time old boy. lol

i am 33 by the way have done advanced driving which i thougt was funny and so out of date.I also do 30,000 miles a year. with 10 or so track days, race car training and air field days.

All of which makes you a better driver on any tarmac.

Any one who has a 172 clio is not going to do 60 mph all the time on derestricted roads so if i were you i would get some driver training before you hit a tree.

and my last point is the cup has no ABS so even more need to learn how to brake (airfield day) correctly.

MrDemon

ps hehe quote "Unbelievable that people think I am a Policeman" but you were !!!!! so its not so unbelievable now is it ?

hehe

im 29.....have never crashed into another car ,person or injured anyone since ive been driving on the road........aged 16

a lot of ppl seem to think im a little bit of a nutter behind the wheel....but tbh im nowhere near as bad as i used to be in my teens.........minis with hi-los n spax adj n fully sorted susp etc can be a whole load of fun , but can also get u into great danger too, and in something that flimsy its a lot harder to stay alive....

but im still here(dont know how sometimes lol)

still give it some when traffic n roads permit.....and with the 20 or so years experience of driving cars iv got under my belt i believe that i could prob match anyone with common sense on the roads......im not into overtaking on blind bends etc.

god knows ive outdrove a few coppers in my time lol
