I broke the 172

After only a week of ownership the radiator has decided to throw its guts and spill water everywhere on my drive after coming home from a drive..luckily it didnt boil and the temp gauge stayed at just below half way,I booked it into my local garage(renault specialist)and wanted to know how much im looking at paying to have the rad changed and a new one fitted.

It could still have got very hot without the temp gauge going up, the temp gauge works off water temp, if there is no water in the system it cant tell the correct temp.

check the oil isnt milky etc.

oil is fine and clear..no indiction of water in the oil..but the header tank is brown,as was the water

The garage came and picked the car up on thier flatbed and took it to the garage..once there they did a comp test and all is good apart from a split rad..so i got them to do that and get a new header tank all for £235+vat should be ready for thursday afternoon..also i got a quote for a cambelt and aux belt change and that came back at £493+vat so im well happy as thats next on the list for june time
