I need a bit of help, stick with what I use product wise, or change ?

Morning folks,

I need a bit of help, yes this probs gets asked a lot, to cut it short I don't really have time to trawl through threads  I want to know what folk are recommending at the min, as things might have changed since I last looked at detailing shizzle.

I sort of know what products I require, so i'll keep it short.

I want a wheel sealer, read a lot about Bilberry gear, is that still the best one to get ??
Is the AG one not that good ?

I need a wheel cleaner too, i've used megs all wheels ? (reddish coloured stuff, but it didn't last long. It worked but I used a bottle up quite quickly:S)
What is better than that ?

I need a quick detailer, been using megs speed detailer (the one in a purple bottle with a 350z on it) I like it, so stick with it ?? Or is there better ?

I read a bit on here about dodo juice red mist, but tbh it seems pretty expensive, on clean your car it says it is a sealant, but on reading it it says quick detailer ??
Is it worth getting as a QD ?? Or stick with the megs stuff ?

Lastly, micro fibre's - probs a really deft question, are they all basically the same ? (I have some already)

Where is best to get this stuff from, clean your car ? (if so, any promo codes please ?) Or wh0re it up on ebay for the products ??

I'm cool for the rest of the stuff for the min.

Thanks folks.

Bilberry is a wheel cleaner mate, not a sealer, and it's good but if you seal the wheels you shouldn't really need a dedicated wheel cleaner. Poorboy's Wheel Sealant gets good reviews but you'll see when Jamie posts that people also use wax.

I use Meg's Last Touch as you can buy in US gallon size and water it down. Works well.

Micro fibres are different as you can get long and short fibres or waffle weave etc. Depends on the job you're wanting to use them for TBH. But from my experience spending a bit more them is cheaper in the long run than buying the cheap ones, better for your paint too.

i4detailing is always my first port of call and usually the cheapest too, especially with the cliosport discount code.

Quick reply as I'm just out to lunch. Jamie will be along with a nerdy reply shortly no doubt lol

Wheel cleaner - Megs Wheel brightner, bug hardly ever use it now.

Wheel sealant - Poor boys wheel sealant is good!

QD - Megs Last touch is great, I dilute it and it lasts for ages.

Microfibres - I have a 'good' set and a bit pack from costco for dirtier jobs.

Fine, don't PM me.

Justin has it down with the products.

Once you've cleaned and seal Craig, you won't need a wheel cleaner. Just soapy warm water.

Megs Last Touch no16 is the best non additive QD I find, and can be diluted as much as you want really.

Poorboy's seal is great stuff, tiny amounts at a time and lasts well.

Microfibres need to pass the CD test. Rub them on the CD and if it gets scratched, so will your paint :)

Hai Sy (pint) x

^ Was I meant to pm you Jamie ?? (sorry if I was mate)

Cheers for the help, I thought that bilberry was a wheel sealant, oops !

I shall order some stuff now.

Thank you.

Only messing Craig fella, happy to answer any questions you have after my PM fest on protein supplements advice :approve:

Matt at I4Detailing is a great lad, site is very comprehensive. Anything not on there, either ask him or have a look at the guys over at Cleanyourcar. Again, very helpful and comprehensive website.

pfft...Depends what you like Craig. there's no right or wrong answer. Given that was have the same car/Colour. The following is in my Kit.

Wheel Cleaner: G101 Autosmart. Rarely need it.
: Megs APC/SuperDegreaser for engine/Back of wheels, Wishbones, rear subframe etc.

Wheel Sealer: Poorboys wheel seal
Tyres: Blackfire gel

Microfibres - Ultra plush ones from chemical guys, there buffin wax towels are the best i've used. (See Carwashnwax.co.uk

QD - I use David from Carwashnwax's own brand, it's in a gallon and will last ages. a fraction of Last touch.

Wax - Swissvax.

Aye, but don't think there is an AS lad close by :(

Really? hummm! Polishbliss sell it. TBH i support them and David due to locality. I see no need to buy elsewhere...Other than Swissvax they can provide all i need.

Ali, I know I know, lol.... I'm not really into the detailing shizzle as I don't have time. I quite like doing it when I get a few hours to spare though. I was just wondering what the 'new thing/product' was out at the min & what folk recommended.

I don't get the codes, It took me ages to work out what the shortened AG things were:eek:

What is AS ?? Some of the talk is another lanhguage to me :(

Correct Justin.

Craig, in all honesty the stuff you are using at the moment is probably fine. People go through phases but there is no defo right answer.

  BMW E46 330i Touring
In what way is it better than Poorboys? I've used that for years now and can't really see how it could be improved apart from repelling the dirt altogether!?!

  Megane R26
Well, it's cheaper, doesn't need three layers to be effective, lasts longer, cleans better, and leaves more 'shine'

Oh it's easier to use too.

Tell you what Russ, if you hadn't have suggested it, I would have looked at it and scorned it. Christ it looks cheap and tacky, reminds me of Turtlewax Ice :S.

As long as it's not an all in one polish seal and wax product . . .

I have purchased a grand total of nothing so far (no time yet, roll on the weekend) i'll probs check that new wheele sealer out.

Collinite 476 is fine for a winter or wheel wax, but has nothing like the results of others the same price, like Natty's and p21s (R222).
