I need a new bulb :(

I need to replace the side light bulb on the passenger side. Can someone point me in the right direction for bulbs and fitting as no doubt Renault will charge an arm and a leg!

you would go to renault to change a sidelight bulb:S dont mean to be rude but its shocking how little some people know about cars. you will need a 501 bulb which you can get from ebay, halfords or your local motor spares shop.

No, sorry mate. I should have explained myself better. I'm having a few issues with the garage I bought the car from and it's warranty. I got my local Renault dealer to draw up a list of faults and quotes but to save myself some cash should the garage I bought the car from kick up a fuss (long story!) I'm trying to reduce the price of things I've been quoted for by doing them myself.

Your comment about not knowing very much about cars is a a vaild one but rest assured, I know how to change a bulb . This being my first car I just wanted some reassurance.

yep oright then, a 172 as your first car well done i assume you are pretty old then compared to other learner drivers to be able to get that!

It's certainly MY first car. I've just been a a named driver previously on my folks Dynamique, so tinkering was not alowed! I'm 23

2 pack of 501 bulbs at Halfords are about £2.50.

Cheaper to buy on the net I think, but I needed mine fore next day MOT.

Why would the garage pay for a new bulb anyway? Wear and tear? It's like asking for a new set of tyres cos yours are worn in the warranty period lol

It's more an issue of it having passed the MOT which I had carried out on it as part of the sale with the sidelight not working...! Part of a list of things which I think the garage skimped on and if they don't cough up for repair work which needs to be done that would ordinarily have been flagged in an MOT and service, I wouldn't now be looking at corroding front discs and pads, a blown side light, a blown dash light or have needed to have forked out for a new cambelt!
