i pod nano

Bought an i pod nano on friday, ive been having trouble getting pictures onto the ipod, do you have to have download some sort of software like you have to with the music to get it on the i pod?

I don't think so, i run my ipod through my mac, and everytime i download more music the album artwork also transfers itself.
