My Dad's had a few.

Yellow Mk3 with a vinyl roof, silver mk4 Estate and a brown saloon mk4 but had been in a whack and had a mk5 front end on it.

My Dads mate has a concours Aubergine mk2 1600E, had it from new!! I keep meaning to get him to email me some pictures. I've seen it in the flesh but he has some amazing pictures of it in france and at the ring etc.

There were a few of them with custom V8s at the drag day I went to the other week, cool as f*ck.

An old mate of mine had a black Mk3 with the mother of all sound systems in it,
at the time he worked for a company that fitted custom car systems.

It was like being driven round in a Laz-e-boy arm chair,
on a decent journey you didn't want to get out the thing, so comfy plus loud as f*ck tunes with perfect clarity.

I've put a Cortina on my list of cars to own.

My Dad had one about 30 years ago. 2000E "Shooting Brake" went camping to Bordeaux in it. We took a special way there so we could do the Mulsanne! Never forgotten 98mph flat out fully laden lol.

I did plan on buying an old Mini and restoring/rebuilding it,
but even rotten shells are going for a grand these days which is just mental.

Instead of buying a knackered old Mini, spending 3 times what it's worth getting nice,
I might just save up and get a sub £4k Cortina, or an old Capri and stick a V8 in it.

I mean how cool is this?!!!

It was one of those days I'll never forget... My mate thought his MK4 diesel Golf was rapid, although in reality it was nowt special. The lads Cortina appeared in front of us one day and my mate chuckled and said "What the f*ck is that piece of sh*t", to which I told him it was my brothers mates Cortina. As we approached a dual-carriageway my mate booted it, only to see a Cortina wheelspinning away from him. It had that much power he was struggling to keep it going in a straight line. I can't remember what my mate said, but it was hilarious none the less.

I've been looking at them all day, i've decided that a Mk2 is going to be my future project car,
as they're one of the cheapest classics out there.

Tax exempt and a bit of classic car insurance research had told me that a fresh policy with zero no claims,
would be in the £250-£450 range, so it would be possible to run two cars without breaking the bank.

I'd like to build/restore one that looks like this. :evil:

I used to know someone who had a Mk1 LC, he had owned it since it was 6 months old, and it was utterly mint, I would have happily swapped a testicle for it but I dont think he was interested in the swap sadly.

This one was literally immaculate inside and out, and he was the first private owner having bought it as an ex demonstrator.

I'd be amazed it it wasnt worth at least double that TBH, but you'd struggle to find another "1 gentleman owner" car to compare it to I guess so its a case of it'll fetch what 2 people will bid up to.

Not sure if he still has it, I was rebuilding a calibra turbo engine for a friend and his car was on a farm, and this car was the farmers dad's, but it was about half a dozen years ago now, should imagine even if the old boy cant still drive that his son will hang onto it.
