Get a mk2 ph1. For 3k you could find an immaculate one !

Make sure belts have been done (demand proof, i.e.: invoice) recently or knock £500 off the price.

Plenty on here 100k+ .. milage shouldn't put you off.

Check out insurance before you buy as you are young, and premiums are silly at the moment. If your budget is 3k though, you can pick up a mint ph1 for ~£2k and have some insurance money left over.

this man speaks sence,
imo the styling on the ph1s look so much better and at your budget, you could buy a minter,

if you do get a ph2, look out for the stickers at the ends of the bumper,
if theyre missing, tell tale sign of a front end respray, (possible crash) see below

other than that, i wouldnt buy a modded one, and if someone claims a 182 has cup packs, check the tyres arn't budget, if they are you can knock them down because it technically doesnt have all the cup pack lol, (it worked for my mate lol)

theres a common wiring problem (espesh on the ph1s) where the ground shorts on the rear light cluster causing the foglight dash light to come on, but its not a big job to fix.
wings are plastic and can hide cracks easily, if someone says its a minter, look close at the wings to see if theyve taken a knock.
thumb grips tend to melt on the ph2s,

i think thats all the common problems i can think of,

as said, demand proof of belts.

and as with any car, check for leaks, bends and general signs of bad care!

good luck! you wont be disappointed by the performance difference between the a puma and a CS :P

Ignore the mileage mate. The most important thing is condition and service history.

Make sure the cam/aux belts have been done by a reputable specialist, it is absolutely essential on these cars.

Looks OK but if serviced on time, belts due in 2k, you're probably looking at £5>800 depending where you go for the work.

Also, is that a cup ? I.e: no ABS or air-con etc. I can't tell as the pics arent working for me. If it is, it'll be even harder to insure.

how about this: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2311034.htm

"full service history inc timing belt, last service stamp 16.4.10
8 stamps in total, all old mot's + loads of receipts inc cam belts"

If you can get that for <£2k, you're laughing.

belts are alot cheaper on a cup aint they?

that ph1 is mint.........Must not be tempted.....i need a bigger car! lol

yes it is a cup. only problem is the colour it looks too much like a lower model

All PH2 sports do in my opinion.

Wouldn't have one.

Ph1 every time !

That cup you posted, the belt is not due in 2k, it's either way overdue, or has been done.

oh i see would there be much difference in performance between a clio 172 cup and a fiest st 150?

Fiesta ST iirc is 7.9 from 0-60 and the Clio cup is 6.8(I believe, although there are many figures flying around on the web)
Clio wins in every department against the st?!

other than interior!

clio is quicker and i believe it handles better,
not sure who wins in reliability,
but the ST is better built, and the interior is much nicer!

All imo, id still go for the clio ;)

  Stripped yozza'd cup
A cup would ravage a fiesta st.

I'm not convinced the st is actually 150hp as they say tbh... Doesn't feel that quick.

An adjustable pad at the bottom of the seat backrest where it would support the lumbar region of your spine. Strange you never heard of this.

Troll much?

Can't see the ebay link, but even the Gti180 couldn't keep up with the 1*2's on track.

Well i had structured argument for the benifits of said 206 gti's..
But seeing as ive now got a slapped wrist and a 2point warning (what ever that is) i'll leave it.

Many years ago this place was so relaxed, witty and a great place to hang.. WHAT HAPPENED?

THIS^^^^^

Mine just ticked over too 96k and its solid as a rock! Id rather buy a high mileage well maintained than a low mileage that's had its history "lost when i moved house" all day long.
