I want to lower my mk3...

I've decided, it needs done. I dont have a clue about it though. How much is it going to cost me? What do i buy? where do i take my car to get it done? Will it ruin the performance any? Will it improve it any? Whats the lowest i could go to improve the gap between the arches, without it really changing the performance, and that will still leave enough room for splitters etc...

Please reply, the more i see my car the more i want it done lol

thanks...

Re: also....Down Sides
Thought id add this as more of a word of warning, if you do take your car to the level of mine you will make enemys with speed bumps and angled drive ways as the silencer hangs lower than the car body.

Another is you will knock your front camber out on your wheels ever so slightly and may need to get camber bolts to sort it.

Last but no least prepare for a bumpy ride !!!!!!!

^

I don't want these downsides, what's the lowest i can go just to improve the appearance, without causing any of these downsides...?

Mate, just get some lowering springs. Bio hazard has coilovers, they will make the ride more crashy/harsh etc. Lowering springs will lower the car 30mm ish and wont make a huge difference in feel imo. But spend wisely, dont go for a cheap brand. Go for something German, like H&R or Ebaich etc

These may also be OK

Any garage should be able to fit them, even kwik fit etc, maybe try getting a mechanic on his own and see if they might take some cash ;) ;) Be looking @ no more than £150 labour tops, as the rears are piss easy and take no time. The car will also need tracking @ around another £30ish. So, springs, then fitting will cost NO more than £300 all in. Where abouts you based?

PI springs are gash.

IF your wanting to go low, then your going to have to look out for speedbumps anyway

Never got this whole speed hump thing tbh, do people hit them @ 50mph or something???? All bar one of my cars have been lowered. My old Cup, 182, now 197 on Coilovers. Never had any problems.......?

My July pay cheque is buying me either of those sets
cant you make it sooner

an i be waiting of pics an review if they anygood then they will end up on mine ;)

which ones are you leaning towards i was thinking 30mm ;)

I meant to say June lol oops, maybe before if I can :)

I was thinking 30mm too, 45mm would start to affect dampers and camber angles and lots of stuff I cba to sort out lol! Plus I carry alot of equipment for due to my hobby so it its too low it will handle like w**k if i have it piled high.

it is pretty tall tbh, just look at the guy who posted his new 138 in the clio bit....4x4!! lowering should sort it out though or at least minimalise it

45 mm will start to affect the camber e.t.c

but i would like to see it on a 45mm drop mind!

Put them on then post pictures!

i was looking at getting these 45mm drops,

but... I am running on 16s so im not sure if they will rub.

the orginal alloys are 15s, so i might just have to get 35s

any thoughts?

My original alloys were 15"s now I have 17's... I think theyl fit fine. What sizes are on susans do you reckon?

Youll have no problems with 15,16 or most likly 17" wheels on a drop of 45mm mines was sitting at 70/rear 50/front roughtly and i had no problems at all with Rubbing on full lock or with a full load of people
