i want a MD headunit but can only find sony players but ive read on here that sony is cr*p ( i though they were ok)



What do you suggest if not sony??

Sonys current range of Head Units are not crap. But then they arent the best either.

Personally I dont think you can go wrong with an Alpine HU for pure sound quality at a good price, although I reckon Pioneers range look better and also give you decent sound.

sadly the only manufacturers that make MD HUs are Sony and Kenwood, both of which are nowhere near market leaders any more

would buying a CD HU then buying a MD changer be out of the equation???

best choice IMHO

ive got a sony mdx-m690 md hu. had no probs with it, good sound & easy controls and plenty of outputs for amps. Ive always used sony, found them better that the rest.

Alright Mate.

I have a Sony MD head unit (SONY MDX CA580), that is quite an old one, but it was pricey when I bought it 2 years ago. Its always been good, even carried on working after i smashed it off in a crash.

I assume that you are from Nottingham, in which case, try car audio centre (http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/) in Radford (opposite Asda), theyve got the SONY MDX CA790X for £120. They also do really good speaker cable ect. They also do pretty good after sales service if anything does go wrong. They will also do you a deal (as most places will).
They are much better and cheaper than the shop that is opposite Castle Marina, but never compared them to London Road Car Audio near Broad Marsh.

hi ive just bought the sony mdx-m690, which is there active black panel twin face unit, and its been excellent. i bought it off ebay for £180 and although it didnt come with box/instructions i saved £220! its got excellent sound quality and good features, the disc loads quickly and it has the removable face. i couldnt fault it and recommend you look on ebay as there were quite a few when i got mine a few weeks ago. im also getting a 6 disc MP3 changer to go with it for £166 inc delivery from http://www.mcs-direct.co.ukwww.mcs-direct.co.uk

definitely reccomended and the amount of people who love that motorized face makes me laugh!
