ok back to reality on a more serious note, an ph1 cup is going to be near identical performance. i wouldn't save for a ph2 if I was going for the performance.

Think he must mean 172 Cup vs 182 Cup.

I'd get a Cup at the price range u seem to be talking.

by ph 1 do u mean -

ph1 cup = 172 cup
ph2 cup = 182 cup ?

I'd get a phase 1 172 as I prefere them. The only netagtibve is there a bit older and no chnce of a warently plus have higher milage usually.

Trophy (if we can include 182's) if not then a MK2 PH2, flame red.

The lad can just afford a PH1 172, asking him to save 3x that amount for a Trophy i think is somewhat academic lol.

IMO I'd have a 172 PH2 FF as you get performance + comforts + nicer interior ;)

I only have one regret about getting a ff instead of a cup. That is they originally cost more than cups, yet at the age they're at now, there's sod all difference in resale value.

My 172 looks boring enough, at least I have nice seats and some gadgets.

MK1 172, lightweight like a cup and half leather, aircon etc like hte full fat, best of both worlds! plus 15" wheels are a bonus over 16" wheels in my opinion!!

would prefere a ff 182 myself. they may weigh more but ive never been a fan of the ph1 looks. where as some of the ff 182's i see give me a semi lol

the ph1 172 does just as good as the newer models so unless you want a newer car is it really worth the extra cash that sounds like you need to save up alittle for.

If you're not bothered about 'newness', warranties, etc and just after fun then I'd suggest a decent ph1. If you want some luxuries such as a better interior, lower mileage and warranty then I'd say a 182 with Cup packs.
