OK, so if at the age of 18 your going to pay for £4.7k for insurance, do you mind me asking how you can afford it? PM me if you prefer but, whatever money spinner you may have, I want in!
(expecting some vague reply suggesting that your dad will actually be paying for it)

I wanted a 172 at 20...but i was never going to be able to afford one and be able afford to have a life every month so i started small like most of us do and then built up a) the no claims bonus and b) the driving experience.
Do you work for a living and earn a small fortune?
(This may be a pointless question as most 18 year olds would be struggling to buy an L plate 106 let alone the insurance)

Yes mate, you are only young once, but what you should have done is go on your own name from the start, earn 2 years no claims and get one when your 19. When insurance is a rather more acceptable (although still a joke) at £1800 TPFT. That is, exactly what I've done.
running costs of the car?
petrol, oil, servicing, tyres, wear and tear, the ever increasing car tax (£270)...
have you considered all these things?
No you won't only with directline! (I think)
Are you surpervisor of Dady's company by any chance?![/quote
nope dads mate owns the company:approve:

Guys nothing we say is going to make him realise he's crazy.
I think we should just all sit back, and wait for his next thread...

only with certain company's and expect to pay a nice lump for the priviledge although that dont seem to be a problem.
To be fair i cant see a problem with buying the car if you've worked hard to earn the cash, surely you deserve to spend it on what you want just if i was spending money ive taken a while to earn on an expensive car i'd want to make sure its insured properly with the high risk that you might ding it ... might not even be your fault someone might reverse into it and drive off... you'd still need to pay for it some way.
But as you've already bought the car makesure you insure it properly, take care of it and dont drive it like a maniac and all should be fine... if you do all that fine then all you've got to watch for is muppets driving around.
