Immobiliser fault

Car  Williams 2, 182 cup
I have noticed a common fault on mk1 phase 2 and 3 clios are that the immobiliser fails, caused by leaking sunroof. Is this an easy repair and what is required to correct it?

Easy fix is to seal up the roof with bathroom etc sealant .
A better fix is to sort out new seals etc but few people will spend the money doing it correctly.

My question was more directed to fixing the immobiliser when it goes wrong

The main problem is dry joints on the circuit board caused by corrosion due to dampness.
Cure the leak first then clean up and re-solder the dry joints.

So would I be right in saying replacing this part with a new remote as well would cure the fault?
