Immobiliser problem...

  Clio 1.8 8v RSi
Hello everybody. Iv just had a problem with my immobiliser yesterday, when i try and start my car it wont let me untill the immobiliser is turned off...(press the key fob once) But the key fob wouldnt do anything. I phoned up Renault and they said more than likely is the Sensor (and as my roof leaks the water comes right through where the sensor is) So have ordered the new sensor which should be in tomorrow or thursday. What id like to know is..is it possible to completely get rid of the immobiliser? A friends friend had a Corsa and was able to get rid of his.. If its possible how do i do it my self? Cheers

Ello mate, when you say your car would not start.....does it allow you to turn the engine over but not let it fire or does it stop you doing anything?

Having immob probs with my 172....When I try to start it it will turn over but not fire up (start), sometimes, othertimes it starts ok....

Does your red light in the middle of the dash go out when you try to start it?

If no then immob trouble....
If it does then its something else.

Took mine to Renault today and had it diagnoesd, fault code came up with ring decoder, the bit around igniton barell. Also they found my relays to be corroded so they cleaned them up and also resynced my key...no probs tonight, so fingures crossed.....

Im not sure about the red light, but the orange light (it looks like a bar with wire wrapped round it) sorry for the description but its the immobiliser light as far as i know...well that stays on, normally goes off when the immob is turned off. I was ment to picking the car up yesterday as iv just payed off what i owed so its in Braunton (1hr n half away), But the chap has paid for a new sensor (£50). The renualt garage said this is what it would most likely be as it has lasted 11 years. The key fob before was working fine.
Well what actually happened was i went up to collect the car yesterday, i got their and the chap fired it up for me after using the key fob to switch off the immobiliser, i has to go get the TAX so he switched the car off. When we came back after 20 minutes we went to press the key fob and nothing happened, we tryed charging the battery (and thats somthing else..it has to be started with jump leads as the altonator isnt charging propperly) We tried for over an hour and nothing was happening so thats were i am now...waiting for the Sensor to arrive, They are going to fit it tomorrow, if it arrives and let me know what happens. If their is still a problem i will check to see if the red light goes off or not.
Sorry for the long assay but best to note it all down.

Ok will give that ago if new sensor doesnt resolve it, Renualt dont seem to be as realiable as they say so still a few more days till the part is in. Cheers

Gave that a try chap but no luck, The new Sensor has made no difference so Renault says its somthing to do with the CODE? So its been towed and they are going to get it fixed by hopfully tomorrow!! Bloody hope so anyway, fed up driving around my mums Nissan Micra!! :(
