Immobiliser Problems, Please Help!

My immobiliser is playing up a lot lately.

When i go to start my car the immobiliser light wont go out,

If i try to start it after waiting for it to go out and it hasnt it just makes a click noise.

If i try starting it with the light on its turning the engine over but not catching,

Anyone got any ideas?

got exactly the same problem, mine is fairly intermittent as well, so managed to get stranded hour away from home in the freezing cold 20mins after leaving gfs house.

with mine, i wait for a bit, say ten mins, then open the bonnet, lock the car with the interior button, unlock it with my key fob, put it in the ignition and it seems to cure it!!

i posted a thread on here, search for "possible immobiliser problem"

Has and a couple of other lads were quite helpful, talking about resetting key to car frquency and stuff.

mine has all but disappeared in the last 2 wks, hasnt happened once (watch me go out 2nite and get stuck again )

If the lights doesn't go out the car won't start the imobiliser is still locked as the ECU hasn't recognise that you have the right key.

There tow possible problem the way to check is to use your other key.

Most likly the other key will be the same in which cse its the transponder ring around where the ignition key is there only cheap take it off and put a new one on they regularly fail or its the wiring around ther as thats not wonderful either.

Renault dealerships some places keep them in stock as thee a common failure.
only cheap £20 at most i think.

The immobiliser decoder ring cost me £46 from renault. This did nothing to solve my problem. Just cant get the immobiliser to come off so its off to renault to get the key re-coded to the car. Fingers crossed!

Check your battery earth - take if off where its bolted to the body and clean it well with emery cloth - a slightly high resistance earth can cause loads of electronic problems including immoliliser and computer losing its data.
