imobiliser prob

basically every now and again i start my car and the imobilser light is fashing and itll crank over for a few secs then stop
ive two keys one of which will lock and unlock the car with the fob as long as its pressed right upto the window (even with a new battery in ti)
the other wont unlock the the car with the fob yet both keys will start the car 50% of the time
my bosch kts diagnostic says that it doesnt reconise the keys
i dont see how both keys could die at the same time
any ideas

Keys will be fine, it's either decoder ring that's gone (plastic ring around the barrel), or the uch has lost the key information. If it's recoding needed, Renault clip required.

Can I use the decoder ring fom another car as I've got a complete 172 I'm gonna break

Right I've changed the decoding ring and all appeared to be fine however if I turn the ignition on there's a 50/50 change the imobiliser light will start flashing but if I put the key in and quickly go to starting it it'll start first time everytime I'm confused big time

As Jonny has already said its going to be UCH related and will need a CLIP, possibly a new UCH to resolve. That means a trip to either a local dealer or a specialist such as myself who has this equipment i'm afraid.

Can't I just use the uch ecu and key chip from my other 172

I think you can, and this seems the simplest and cheapest option. Especially if you already have all the parts.

Also where is the sensor that picks up when you press the key fob
