import warranty warning

  VW Potato

for those guys with EU imports - if youre trying to get reno to upgrade you to a three year warranty, be careful. As requested by reno, I sent in my original log book and original sales invoice....and as predictable as night follows day, reno it seems has now lost them both. Thanks guys. You really are un-fecking believeable.

Ive spoken to three different people in the warranty dept about this, all of which have given me a different story: your mobile kept diverting (thats nonsense) it was sent recorded delivery - so where is it and who signed for it?; its in our files - I thought it was sent recorded delivery?

I am so totally exasperated now by reno - why is it I can command an audience with a CEO of a multinational, but I cant even get a straight answer about two documents out of Reno! I hate lies - if its lost, tell me, then we can sort it out somehow, but dont make up contradictary stories for petes sake.

That reno thinks it can talk people out of Mercs and BMWs with this level of service is absolutely laughable.

Bad luck G. Yet another example of poor service. I think a letter of complaint is in order, maybe its worth contacting Auto Express or Steve Sutcliffe at Autocar (that magazine you love) who may air the problem? Im currently getting more reliability problems with mine. The allegiance is wearing thin...

Ouch. That was one of the things which worried me, hence why Ive not sent mine off yet.

I see on the letter they send out that you should be able to take the required paper work to the dealership when warrently work is required. I think Ill try that.

To be honest, I doubt Ill have the car over 2 years, but who knows.

I hope you manage to get this sorted. But having spoken to the Customer Service department at Reno I think you have more chance of winning the National Lottery two weeks on the trot :) :(

thing is Tom, i probably would get a better response it I did a Joe Dolce - usually, an idiot will dance if asked to by another idiot. :(

My mistake was to be professional about it. Silly me.

i may do that. Then on saturday, I drive to a reno dealer in maidenhead, park outside and place a sandwich board on the roof that says reno uk post sales service is appalling. The next saturday, i do the same in bracknell, then Reading, then at their head office. At all times local press will be called to make them aware of what Im doing.

Hmmm, hands up who wants to travel in convoy to reno in Rickmansworth with me? Ten Clios parked outside with their disgruntled owners? Great photo opp...

I think we should all do it, all over the country!!!

Im upset because Renault ordered me the wrong part and still made me pay for it as it was a special order, I couldnt say no as they had my creditcard details. It was only just over a tenner but thats not the point...

will it ever end? idiots...I only sent in copies and they were ok with them...just got to get the dam service history book stamped and I will send them a copy of that too.....no way are they getting the real book.

Hi all, just a quick query - im just about to sort out getting my 3 years warranty from REN UK after sending a rather nasty letter :devilish:

For all of you who have had to claim on your warranty did you have to pay anything? i was told about a scaling system renault run so the older your car is the more you have to pay towards cost... seems bloody gash warranty if thats right

depends bigborebri. I was under the impression that year one warranty work is free via the manufacturer, year 2 & 3 are dealer warranty and you may have to make a small percentage contribution to the repair.

Weird! After reading all about it on here, I phoned Renault UK and they asked me to photocopy/fax them all the necessary paperwork. Even that was striken with problems as they lost the letter and 1st fax, but they have now confirmed receipt of said documents and are processing the request.....

Thanx for the reply mate, your right tho - the dealer warranty covers only a percentage than decreases per year! my cars just over 2 years old and im paying 40% (REN pay 60%).

However i have no warranty and renault call it "good will" so apparanty theres no point having warranty as "good will" will cover it.... Seems odd tho, what if you payed for a extended warranty

BigBoreBri - I think, at the end of the day, the best thing to do is just laugh about it. Warranty-wise, Reno is so loony tunes that theres little or no consistency in what they say or do. Which is why we love them. Not. :D
