In Dash TV install progress pics

A few pics of me butchering a necvox screen this afternoon. All working well so far, removed IR receiver from PCB and extended it to relocate somewhere on dash.

I used to have my 7" lcd in the glovebox of my fiesta zetec. Would love a double din screen mounted on the centre console. Reception wasn't great, and that was with the stick on aerials all over the back window.

eugegall: that looks great. How do you hide it from those pesky thieves?

Dave3141: How are you gonna mount this? Can't wait to see the finished result

All fitted into screen holder, just need to secure circuit board in, and check to see how hot it gets.

I could have helped more. I am quite handy with electronics. I did a GCSE I was the only girl in my class. I installed my security light out in the back garden. I'm quite good with a soldering iron too. David won't let me do his stuff he has a degree in mechatronics and doesn't trust me to do as well as he can.

this is sex wee to me. How much would you charge for an install, all in? OEM (or OEM in appearance) is the way to go.

Wanna see the pics of your cougar.

Nice one Dave, oh and Rebecca; those zip ties made the job, would've been rubbish without. Hopefully the screen won't get too hot and make them stretch/perish.

As regards the temp, there is a few bits of plastic used behind and in front of the screen, which I believe would melt before the zip ties(but they are part of the screen so shouldnt anyway), so fingers crossed it should be ok.

I can do another one if people send me the screen and the screen surround. I wil be able to help with rest of install once we figure out how to do it on saturday. It's a learning experience for me, all good fun too.:D

Will be doing mine with an in car PC as soon possible.

so if it sold, howcome you still have it?

We are working on installing into a car for the person who bought it of him. He sold it and then decided to have a go at installing it and now he has had some practice we are hoping to fit one in his car too.

Dave I cut the centre section to shape today. There are just the plastic rivit things left on it at the back. These will have to come off and we will have to think of a new way to get it to bond in.

Its going to be a shite getting the old centre section out without damaging my dash but a little patience and we should do it! LOL Cant wait till Sat!!:D

I can lend hand after we have finished installing mine. Think of this install as a guinea pig trial run for Daves!

Which bit? Its the screen holder that will sit under the dash top built for the sat nav screen.

Well my screen appears to have a loose connection so need to get behind it to see whats going on, So was wondering how it comes out like that so I can check my screen. :approve:

  Bye Bye 182....
The top of the dash will need to come off first and then you have access to the holder and screen. From there you can remove it or just check the connection. The dash removal guide is in the articles section iirc.

Sorry for all the questions, But how does the top come away? is it sort of clipped together?

thanks.:D

I like the pioneer, but it sticks out too much and is a target for thieves, I prefer the factory look. But if someone gave me one free, I'd rip their arm off.
