Increase in PremiumAdvice needed

Spoke to Adrian Flux today who gave me a very competitive quote (one of their underwriters is offering special concessions for Renault owners, if anyones interested!!!) and they said that that if I want to make engine modifications then the percentage increase in my premium will be equal to the percentage increase in BHP.

So eg. if I increase the BHP of my engine by 43% from 140 to 200BHP then my premium will rise by 43%.

Does this seem reasonable and is it standard practice? not having any previous experience I am completely in the dark about this! and obviously if im going to send the amount of cash on my engine as I plan to then I am not going to take any risks by not telling the insurance company!

Thanks in advance for any help....

Seems very fair to be honest, I wish all companies had such a transparent way of working out cover for modded cars.

Felix, I think thats a good deal. Tesco want an additional £200 for en exhaust and thats a flat rate!

£200 for an exhaust! No thank you! Insurance really does seem like legalised theft sometimes! This is beginning to look like a good deal though!

I tried Liv Vic and they quoted £2000?!? Id heard they were quite reasonable? Evidently not, or perhaps they are when in the mood...

Adrian flux when they quote through Highway give a discount to Cliosport members you just neeed proof.

Thats idea of % increase to % increase in power is a popular one.

Liverpool Vicoria/Frizell are a good company but they were £100 more. Just hope I dont have a crash as Highway arnt very good apparently.

i enquired with adrian flux(who im with) about putting 75bhp of nos on my modded vlaver and they only quoted £200 more on top.full modified its only £560 with them...great company

  don't

word is that liv vic are lying to lots of ppl at moment, telling some ppl they dont insure moddified cars anymore, then letting others do it

seems a bit strange
